Is Internet Explorer a monopoly?

Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer abbreviated MSIE), commonly abbreviated to IE is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems starting in 1995.
It has been widely used web browser since since 1999, attaining a peak of about 95% usage share during 2002 and 2003.

Since IE's initial release over a decade ago, it has gained several new features. IE can be used as a full-feature Web browser, with Broswer Helper Objects and ActiveX adding additional functionality. Along with the ability to browse the Web, Internet Explorer 6 is tightly integrated with Windows XP and provides certain features related to the Windows operating system, such as Windows Update.

Today, IE's primary competition is Firefox. The current version of Firefox has tabbed broswing and other features that IE6 lacks, but Internet Explorer 7 offers improved security and new features.

Firefox 2.0 vs. IE 7 - Summary

For a while it looked as if Mozilla's Firefox browser was destined to become a huge threat to Internet Explorer in the web browser wars. Firefox has continued to slowly but steadily eat away at IE's market share, and for good reason
If you plan to use Windows Vista, you may prefer IE better because of its intimacy with the operating system. On the other hand, if you are a fan of add-ons, Firefox offers a wide variety as a result of its booming developer community. With that said, Internet Explorer does offer a fair share of quality add-ons as well.

And about Google Chrome....

As we all know...Google is never small.Nowadays...every web users know about Google because of his feutures and his improvement in searching.Google has plans to shake up the browser ecosystem by releasing an open source browser of its own. What does this mean for the other browsers.Of course, others will think a lot about this...because they know the "google" name is not a small competitor!
It created many new resources as in the text shown like if u tapped on the Google Chrome the word "a comic book" it would appear:

  • Open source, built from scratch
  • Make use of a JavaScript virtual machine called V8
  • Support multiple processes so each tab runs in isolation so bugs and slow-downs only hit a single tab (creating what’s called in the comic book a “sad tab”) rather than bring the browser crashing down
  • Revolutionary use of tabs (the tabs will be at the top of the window rather than below the address bar
  • Incognito mode that kinda sounds like Internet Explorer’s InPrivate mode
  • Make use of WebKit open source rendering engine
  • Plugins removed from the rendering process and placed in a separate process
  • Web app support
  • Whiz-bang address bar called “Omnibox”
It's a new thing on internet world and computer technolgy....So this is the way how Google compete with IE,Firefox,etc....
